Kinship Series 2022 - Bunnahabhain 32y, Bruichladdich 31y, Caol Ila 32y, Laphroaig 31y, Bowmore 33y

Auf dem Weg zur eigenen Ardnahoe Islay Distillery stellt das Familienunternehmen Hunter Laing zum diesjährigen Fèis Ìle die mittlerweile sechste Auflage der beliebten Kinship-Kollektion vor. Selektiert wurden die Fässer von Stewart, Andrew und Scott; das traditionell Besondere an der Kinship-Serie ist, dass es sich bei den Abfüllungen um sehr alte sowie äußerst rare Islay Single Malts handelt. Mit dem Begriff „Kinship" wird die Nachbarschaft Ardnahoes zu den anderen Islay-Brennereien gefeiert. Die Reise beginnt mit einem Jura 29 Jahre und reicht bis zu einem 33-jährigen Bowmore.

Jedes Etikett dieser Abfüllung ist einzigartig und steht mit den jeweiligen Motiven für die große Bandbreite der Wetterextreme auf Islay. Diese schaffen sowohl die perfekten Bedingungen für die Herstellung exklusiver Whiskys als auch für den unvergleichlichen Genuss eines Drams vor Ort. Die Malts wurden in Fassstärke und ohne Färbung oder Kältefiltration abgefüllt.

Die Kinship Series 2022 beinhaltet folgende Abfüllungen:

Bowmore - 33 Year Old – 47,7%
Soft peet reek, seaweed and creamy fudge on the nose, along with pickled ginger, dill and leather notes. Beautifully elegant on the palate with the peat more pronounced, slowly envolving into a wonderfully long focused and elegant finish.

Bruichladdich - 31 Year Old 54,6%
A wonderfully dense nose with baked apple, yellow plum jam, lime zest, salt roasted almonds and atlantic sea breeze. Thick and creamy on the palate with melon fruit salad, lemon zest, nutmeg and ginger. Hints of Both milk and dark chocolate on the finish along with a BBQ note.

Bunnahabhain - 32 Year Old - 46.2%
Sea-spray, oaken boat decks and concentrated apple puree with cinnamon on the nose. Malty on the palate along with ripe orchard fruits, leather and polished oak, giving way to a zesty, gristy finish combined with hints of nutmeg and ginger.

Caol Ila - 32 Year Old - 48,1%
An elemental nose of peat smoke, malt and oak, developing into a glowing peat fire, pasty dough, clove and green olives. Juicy on the palate with oily peat, marmalade, almonds and sweet leather notes. A Long, lingering, satisfying finish with lots of restrained peat smoke.

Laphroaig - 31 Year Old – 47.1%
The freshly tarred gun deck of an old warship on the nose. Peat reek, peat oils, orange sweetness, clove and gristy malt. On the palate we have freshly baked malt loaf, heather honey and baked apples all wrapped up in oily peet reek. Concentrated and tarry on the finnish – beautifully and typically Laphroaig.

Jura - 29 Year Old – 48.0%
Almonds, lemon and orange zest on the nose. Briny with a touch of garden mint and melon, along with a lovely freshness. Earthy and robust on the palate with fruity notes, dark chocolate and crispy bacon. Subtly spicy on the finish with some green apple notes.
